Dr. Jonathan H. Jiang is a globally recognized scientist and scientific leader with more than two decades of experience spanning Earth system science, satellite mission research, and astrophysics. He currently serves as President of the American Geophysical Union’s Global Environmental Change section. His work has played a central role in advancing the scientific use of satellite observations to improve understanding of Earth’s climate system and long-term global environmental change. He also serves as a member of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) science strategy committee for human exploration of Mars. Over the course of his career, Dr. Jiang has received numerous national and international honors for scientific excellence and leadership, including the NASA Exceptional Scientific Achievement Medal, multiple NASA Exceptional Achievement and Group Achievement Awards, and the Edward Stone Award. He is an elected Fellow of the American Meteorological Society and has been recognized on the Reuters List of the World’s Top Climate Scientists.
